5 Ways to Speed Up Windows Vista

There are numerous ways to speed up Windows Vista. Some methods are more straight forward than the others and some will help you see huge improvements to the performance of Windows while others offer less noticeable results. Here we will look at 7 most effective ways to speed up Windows Vista from my personal experience.

Turn off unnecessary Windows features.

By default, Vista comes with tons of features that are enabled based on assumptions which may or may not apply to you. Therefore you get a system that is running lots of underground processes, most of which you do not need at all. So one of the great ways to speed up Windows Vista is to disable them. To see the list of Windows features and turn them on or off, go to Control Panel, change to "Classic View", click on "Program Features" and then select "Turn Windows Features On And Off". Some examples of features you may want to disable are:

- Remote Differential Compression

- Windows Meeting Space

- Tablet PC optional components

- And so on.

Turn off Windows Indexing.

The Windows Indexing service was initially planned to be one of the ways to speed up Windows Vista by shortening the search time for files. However, as the volume of hard disk increases exponentially, the service has proven to be a resource intensive program causing massive slowdowns when Windows start to index the millions of files in the system. Select Start then choose Computer, right click on your C Drive and select properties. Under the General Tab, uncheck "Index this drive for faster searching". On the next dialog box, choose "Include subfolders and files". Do the same for the other Drives.
Remove unnecessary start up programs.

When Vista boots up, many programs execute at the start up either in the background or as pop up Windows. Some of these you do not need. You need to take control and eliminate these memory suckers that are lurking in the background. Open your start menu, go to run, and type in 'msconfig', choose the Startup tab and uncheck any items that you do not want to auto-load and click OK.

Defrag your hard disk.

This may not be new to you but if you are thinking of using the Windows Defragmentation Tool in Vista, you can forget about it. Instead, use a free 3rd party tool known as Defraggler (Google it for the download link). It is still quite efficient in comparison to other ways to speed up Windows Vista.

Clean your registry.

One of the often neglected parts of Windows is the registry itself. Many do not realized that one of the best ways to speed up Windows Vista is to make sure the registry is clear of invalid entries which causes Windows to perform unnecessary tasks. Cleaning the registry has other advantages too. In certain cases you can remove Windows errors that pop up during boot up.

Hard disc encryption

Hard disc encrption is free open source encryption software.it encryptes the full hard drive ,including system as well as flash drives.this sotfware encrypts without affecting the performance of data.encryption is needed when any loss of important data either it may be personal or business information.in these cases Hard disc encryption software helps you to protect the data with any performance loss.these encryption software is designed to encrypt full hard drives , storage devices,cd and dvd this software encrypts partitions of existiong data with out damage of data.the risk is higher if you work in shared computer in an organization.when you are away from the computer your data may access by any other persons.your privacy can be protected every time.when you away from computer.

this program is helpful to secure your personal and business data. There have lot of many recent cases of information getting into unauthorized hands from lost or stolen laptops or accessing unattended enterprise computers or hard devices.Even if spying hardware is attached to the host, secure authentication should be possible using challenge-response protocols with random nonces. even if any one can steal small amounts of data, users shouldn't enter any keys when the operating system is running. An attacker has at most onetime access to the ciphertext and can possibly read or modify, and copy other ways.Of course, attackers can carry out the general attacks, such as problem on data lines between electronic components and attacks on user passwords.for authenticate users, the system can ask them to provide their information about secret or possession of device such as providing vaild passwords,or foot prints.if you forgot password you can retrieve your passwords to provide hints to the passwords.since you may have many passwords to remember.

The generation and storage of user keys in the drive provides further protection from malware.like encryption we have Discription also. Encryption for protecting the important of stored data is the most secure internally in disk drives, as opposed to host software or external encryption modules. There are also speed, cost, and power consumption advantages, flexibility in applications, extra services, and the simple and fail safe operation.

How to Remove Recycler Virus in 5 Steps

The Recycler Virus gets its name from the fact that one of the first warning signs you may have a problem is a system message stating, ‘Recycler.exe has  encountered a problem and needs to be closed'. This virus takes advantage of the Windows autorun feature to spread from one disk to another. The typical infection route for spreading this virus is USB devices such as removable hard drives and USB sticks.  When a user inserts a USB device into the computer the autorun feature kicks in and rewrites your autorun.inf file, copies the Recycler.exe program to the device, and hides the folders it is in.  The end result is hijacking your web browser to redirect it to sites with other malicious software on them. Once installed, it opens a backdoor into your computer in attempts to steal your personal data.

To attempt manual removal of this ugly virus:

•    Open the drive letter using command prompt
•    Show all hidden and system files
•    Look for and delete the Application with a Folder icon
•    Search for any other newly created files you know you didn't create and delete them
•    Run a full system scan

The most important first step when working with the Recycler Virus is not to double-click, or right-click open, on the drive you suspect as being infected with the virus. Instead, open a command prompt (Start, Run, cmd, enter) and type CD (drive letter:), for example cd e: for the E drive.

To show all hidden and system files type attrib -r -a -s -h *.* and press enter. This will remove the read-only, archive, system, and hidden attributes from all files.

If you are still using the command prompt, type dir, to list the directory contents. This will display all files, including the viral payload. It is recommended; however, to use Windows Explorer to view the files. Remember not to double-click or right-click the drive to access the files. Rather, open My Computer (or Computer) and click the Folders button at the top to show the tree structure. Highlight the drive containing the viral files. Make sure you are viewing using the Details view by clicking on the button next to Folders and choosing Details.

You should now see the previously hidden virus files. Specifically, autorun.inf and perhaps something with a folder icon called system. The interesting thing to note is that the item which appears to be a folder is actually listed as being an Application when you look under the Type column. Delete both of these files (autorun.inf and system).

Sort by Date Modified and look at the newest files. Delete any that look suspicious and any you know you didn't create yourself. Remember to look for fake folder files that say application under the Type column!

The final step is to run a full system scan with an antivirus and antispyware application to ensure all traces of the recycle virus have been wiped out.

Understanding RAM And Its Types

The term Random Access Memory (RAM) is the best example of hardware evolution. In very simple terms, it is a form of computer data storage that allows you to access the data any time, in any random order you want to. The aforementioned feature of RAM distinguishes it from other commonly used data storage media like CDs, hard disks, DVDs and the like.

Understanding RAM

Typically, RAM is used for primary storage in computer systems and other modern operating systems such as a Smartphone. With RAM, moving data from main memory to processor needs just a few cycles, however recovering data from hard drive or likewise medium may take considerably more time. For the very same reason, modern-day operating systems principally run in Random Access Memory, and while they run and load applications, they move data and programs into RAM for more rapid processing.

Different Types Of RAM

RAM is typically categorized as volatile and non-volatile. Volatile RAM indicates that all the data would be lost in case chip is powered down whereas non-volatile RAM retains data even in the absence of power. Nevertheless, whenever talking about computer operating systems, the RAM is usually volatile type. Following is further brief description about types of RAM:

Static RAM (SRAM): In this type of RAM, a fragment of data is generally stored with the use of a state of flip-flop. This particular type of RAM is much more costly to create, however is quite faster and necessitates less power as compared to other types of RAM such as dynamic RAM. In present day computers, SRAM
is mostly used like cache memory for CPU.

Dynamic RAM (DRAM): This type of RAM stores a small piece of data with the use of a capacitor and transistor pair that together consists of a memory cell. The capacitor holds low or high charge, whereas the transistor works as a switch allowing control circuitry on the chip to read the state of charge of the capacitor. Because this type of memory is relatively less costly to produce as compared to SRAM, it is the main form of memory in the modern computers.

Phase-Change Random Access Memory (PRAM): This is a non-volatile random access memory. PRAM is based on phase-change properties of typical chalcogenide glass and by applying heat, it can be switched from crystalline to amorphous states. It offers high density and is ideal to be used in harsh environments.
Buyers looking for Computer Ram Memory Supplier can contact Infoline Software. An ISO: 9001-2008 certified company, it is well-known as Computer Ram Memory Supplier In Delhi. It also offers Computer Accessories such as Computer Projector, Computer Web Server, Computer Printer, etc.

Top 5 Video Editing Techniques

Today we are in the age where software like Pinnacle Studio,Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Sony Vegas, etc. is being used by millions of people to make their videos awesome. The post production aspect of filmmaking has completely changed due to this software and here I have laid down 5 tips which will help you make even better videos with this software.

Color Correction — If we go back in the 90's, those were the days when the color correction was considered as a luxury which was just available to the top notch film makers and television producers. The rest of the people had to work hard to capture the best color in their camera because they weren't able to edit it later on. This means that they had to really work hard to make the set proper by having the best lighting, lens filters, etc. But these days the situation is completely changed, color correction is available to anybody who has a video editing app like Adobe Premier, Sony Vegas, etc. As a result many video editors have found that correcting the colors of the video can make a big impact on it.

Speed Effects — You can change the speed of the video and make it fast or slow according to your needs.
You can create a combination of a slow motion and a fast motion video too. You can even try to reverse the footage and make a comedy kind of video. Effects like these were almost impossible to create few years ago. You were required to invest in expensive devices like VTR and hire experts to film slow motion videos. But now-a-days it quite simple, all you have to do is adjust the speed in your software and it's done.

Audio Effects — You can literally change the way your video sounds by simply make some normal changes to your audio. Most of the video editing app allows making these normal changes to your audio like normalizing, compressing, equalizing, etc. You can even mix another track in to your video and make it better. The learning curve for the audio tools in these apps is not quite long but it will take some and I bet it will help you produce better video from then every single time.

Pushes and Pulls — It's quite difficult to maintain the required zoom while recording the video. And even when you record the video by zooming in you are stuck with that footage and it can't be zoomed out. So to tackle this issue we have motion controls in our video editing applications. You can zoom in or zoom out any part of the video and do that exactly how much you like. You can even change the video speed and alter the motion controls together to create a better experience. And when you are editing a 720p or 1080p video you can zoom in without much loss on your footage and that's makes it awesome.

Stabilization — The best thing about these video editing apps is that you can analyze and stable shaky shots. This process is not simple and easy, you have to first learn how to use the complex features like stabilization filter or smooth cam filter on your respective video editing app. After learning the features you can start applying them according to your needs. As this is a complex thing, before applying this feature keep in mind that rendering these effects will take a long time and will use a bigger part of your RAM. And one last thing, it's just a software which can digitally analyze the bumps on your video and will try to stabilize them but still it will not correct each and every bump in your video.

Conclusion. Hence these were some of the techniques which you can apply in your video editing process and make it better. So if you are using your video editing app just for stringing a couple of photos and adding audio to it, than you should use these techniques to make your videos better. These techniques are just the beginning of the video editing world and as you dig deeper you will hundreds of different techniques which can enhance your video editing skills. So keep learning new  things  because the video editing space is evolving at a rapid speed and you need to make sure that you are with the world.

Is it still safe to rely upon windows' encrypting file system?

Data protection is one of the most important and prevalent issues nowadays all around the globe. It is because of this bitter reality that the data stored in our computers and laptops is not safe anymore and is highly vulnerable to a myriad of menaces. Information Technology has without a doubt revolutionized the whole process of how we conduct our business and professional transactions. We use PCs almost every day to conduct a variety of operations and therefore, also amass ample amounts of our confidential information in them. As the technological scenario is advancing at a rapid pace, it has also bred a number of threats that are of critical and immediate importance.

It should also be noted that data protection and its security has always been a big problem and an issue of high importance. As IT users use computers to save majority of their data, it is also very essential for them to deploy such techniques and measures that ensure that their personal and professional files and folders remain safe from malicious activities.

The feature of file encryption is becoming more and more popular these days with many IT users these days, adopting this data security feature. In the beginning, there was not much awareness among home based common users about right data protection techniques, but thanks to the high tech advancements, these security measures are now also in access of normal user. File encryption is a feature by which data is encrypted into coded language, therefore, it becomes very difficult or in majority of cases impossible, for unauthorized a user to gain access to the precious and secretive documents. It should be kept in mind that hackers and privacy violators are some genius minds and therefore, can crack or break into systems without much difficulty. They can then use this classified information to gain monetary benefits.

The feature of file encryption is also present in Windows Operating System. It is named as Encrypting File System (EFS). This technology allows users to encrypt their files transparently to protect their confidential data. However, there are certain major drawbacks and limitations of this feature. Firstly, as local administrator is the default recovery agent in Windows, therefore he can decrypt all the files and folders, meaning there always remains a chance that someone can decrypt the records. Secondly, if a hacker gains access to Windows and changes/resets the local user's account password, he can log into the system and after gaining access to the key can easily decrypt the important files and documents. These are the main drawbacks why Windows encryption feature is not 100% safe and cannot be relied upon solely. An average hacker can crack into the system and gain instant access.

It is because of this reason, that it becomes essential for users to encrypt their files using reliable encryption software. The encryption mechanism of these encryption softwares is strong and authentic and therefore provides their users complete data protection. Therefore, it has become very much necessary to encrypt our files with one of the best encryption software. In this way the data is secured in strong encrypted folders so as to block any kind of unwanted or malicious access.
